Summary:  Thanks to the help of a machine that unlocks genetic memories, Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) is given a second chance but that second chance has a catch. Callum discovers he is a descended of a pretty imprtant assassin in history. Through the assassins memory Callum may hold the secrets of pain and free will, but something else is going on behind the scenes

The Good: I kind of liked it didn’t focus on history or the game story. It took risks and it was pretty fun at times. Most summer films feel the same, but this film through a convoluted story is able to keep my interest by how bizarre it is at times. I like that the climax isn’t the ending and I also dug the film didn’t answer all my questions. I felt like I missed parts of it, but it never slowed down.

The Bad:  The film is confusing as heck. Nobody is really developed. None of the relationships in this film feel even a tiny bit real. Minor characters are given huge scenes but you don’t really understand why they’re given those scenes. It borders the line of abusad. The flashback scenes feel like a drug trip in the worst ways. You’re left with a minor headaches because of all the flipping back and forth to different perspective and time periods. You will walk out of this film confused.

The Ugly: The film can be fun and seem insane, but it’s also really slow. It’s a pain to watch, but somehow it keeps you on the edge of your seat. The film is so confusing and is told in such a wicked fast pace that you can’t help but enjoy the ride and try to figure out the mysteries behind the story. The script doesn’t make sense. The actors are all doing different things and the director is trying to be Terrence Malick out there. It’s truly one of a kind.

Film In Austin’s Review Grading Scale

No Zs – A solid, outstanding movie; there wasn’t an snoozing in this movie
Z – Good movie, sometimes the story may be lacking in some area, but it’s still recommended; only fell asleep for a quarter of the movie
ZZ – Average, entertaining at parts, it may be worth seeing, but you will probably want to wait and rent it; fell asleep for half of the film
ZZZ – Very weak where entertainment, plot, realism, development and other vital elements are missing; fell asleep for a third of the movie
ZZZZ – Very poor to the point that you will only recommend for your family and friends “not to see it;” fell asleep right when the movie began and slept through the whole thing.  Well, you will wish you had spent that time sleeping
