The body of work of ABBA was made into Mamma Mia for Broadway. Then, the body of work of Billy Joel was made into Movin’ Up. Now comes Green Day’s Grammy Award winning album, American Idiot, adapted to create a story of surburban youths disgruntled in Jingletown, USA.

American Idiot follows three friends that fight against authority and are ready to go out in the world and make it on their own. They think they have it all figured out, but as each one of them are separated by different paths, they suffer from loneliness, outrage, and even drugs.

The musical is a one-act play that lasts 90 minutes with no intermission packing in 21 songs. Some of them include Wake Me Up When September Ends, Jesus of Suburbia, Give Me Novacaine, and even Good Riddance (Time of Your Life). It’s electric and high-energy. The musical won two Tony Awards in 2010, one for Best Scenic Design of a Musical, the other for Best Lighting Design of a Musical. Even in February 2011, it won a Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album. It's electric and high-energy. We've all wanted sometime more out of our lives and it's easy to relate to. Everyone has been a young adult that wanted to find their own path even if we had to walk a lonely road or an empty street.
