Peter O'Toole archive is heading to the Harry Ransom Center. The archive of O'Toole (1932 - 2013) include his film scripts, diaries, notebooks, audio recordings of his rehearsing lines and reciting poetry, his awards, and a selection of iconic props and costume pieces, including his sword from the National Theatre's inaugural production of Hamlet directed by Laurence Olivier.
Jonathan Demme, who directed the Silence of the Lambs and Philadelphia died Wednesday morning from esophageal cancer. He was 73.

Naomi Judd has just released a book titled River of Time: My Descent into Depression and How I Emerged with Hope. She opens up about dealing with anxiety and panic attacks in addition to depression and how it has affected her relationship with Ashley and Wynonna. Her relationship with Wynonna is estranged and she hopes that Wynonna will be happy that she is finally talking through her mental issues.
The Unites States request for extradition for Roman Polanski has been rejected by Poland's Supreme Court. In 1977, Polanski pled guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old girl and served 42 days in jail after a plea bargain. He later fled the United States, fearing more jail time. One of Polanski's lawyers, Jan Olszewski, said, "We are happy that the case is finally over."
The sixth ATX Television Festival, which will take place June 8-11, 2017, has announced that it will include a 30th Anniversary Reunion of the sitcom, DESIGNING WOMEN as well as a cast reunion of NORTHERN EXPOSURE. The DESIGNING WOMEN reunion will have Delta Burke, Annie Potts, Jean Smart, Gerald McRaney, Hal Holbrook, and Douglas Barr as well as creator Linda Bloodworth-Thomason all in attendance. For NORTHERN EXPOSURE, cast members Rob Morrow, John Corbett, Barry Corbin, Janine Turner, and Darren Burrows as well as creator Joshua Brand and writers and network executive and producer Cheryl Bloch will all be in Austin.
Tim Burton was in Austin on Sunday, September 25th for his new film, MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN at Fantastic Fest at Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar. He was presented the above recognition award by Mayor Steve Adler to make September 25th the "Keep Austin Peculiar Day." Director Robert Rodriguez gave Burton the award.
The Los Angeles County Department of Children & Family Services is investigating what happened on a flight on Brad and Angelina Pitt's private jet on Wednesday, September 14th. TMZ claims that Brad was physically and verbally abusive with his children during the flight and that he tried to drive off in a fuel truck after the plane landed.

Thirty-four cities including Austin will be showing a one-night-only "Star Trek Marathon" fan event on Wednesday, July 20th. The marathon will take place at AMC Barton Creek Square 14 in IMAX. Who will be the new James Bond after Daniel Craig's time comes to an end after the next movie? A British actor named Jamie Bell has met with longtime 007 producer, Barbara Broccoli, about taking over the role of James Bond. Funny thing is that Jamie Bell played Daniel Craig's brother in DEFIANCE.
Stephen King's novel, MR. MERCEDES, is being made into a TV series for Audience Network. It will star Brendan Gleeson and Anton Yelchin and created by David E. Kelley and has gotten a 10-episode order.
Garry Shandling, who was a devout Buddhist, will achieve monk status at his funeral. To do this, he will be dressed in casual clothes and his head will be symbolically shaved by another monk.
Kristen Wiig has replaced Reese Witherspoon in Alexander Payne's next film called DOWNSIZING. We don't know why. Witherspoon has said, "scheduling conflicts," maybe due to starring in and producing BIG LITLE LIES.
Garry Shandling's death is under investigation because his doctor won't sign the death certificate. Shandling, who died of a heart attack, was in good health at the time, so the coroner has requested a sample of his blood from the emergency room where he was pronounced dead and subpoenaed the comic's health records.
A modern version of the Trans Am from SMOKEY & THE BANDIT has been released. Burt Reynolds has signed all 77 of the limited edition cars, which debuted last week on March 27th at the New York International Auto Show. The Trans Am SE Bandit Edition comes with 840 horsepower, which is about 650 more than the original.
Mark Wahlberg and P Diddy are pledging one million bottles of water to assist with the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. Their water supply has found high levels of lead in Flint's water since officials decided to begin drawing the city's water from the Flint River instead of the Detroit municipal system to save money.
Tom Hardy almost didn't play John Fitzgerald in THE REVENANT. Tom Hardy has admitted that Sean Penn was originally in line to play the part. Sean Penn didn't became unavailable to Leonardo called him up. Tom Hardy is up for an Academy Award fot Best Supporting Actor for this role.

Amber Heard is in negotiations to star in AQUAMAN alongside "Game of Thrones" Jason Momoa. She will be playing Mera, Aquaman's leading lady. If she is signed on, you will see her first appearance in JUSTICE LEAGUE in theaters November 27, 2017.
BAD SANTA 2 is finally ready to begin production and will have a 2016 holiday release. Billy Bob Thornton will reprise his role.

Brad Pitt will be the next big star in a Netflix series. Netflix will present the new series, WAR MACHINE, a satirical comedy based on General Stanley McChrystal, commander of international and U.S. forces in Afghanistan, that is based on the bestselling book The Operators: The Wild and Terrifying Inside Story of America's War In Afghanistan. It will be directed by David Michôd, known for HESCHER and THE ROVER.
20th Century Fox has released their first trailer for a highly anticipated cinematic adventure, THE MARTIAN. The film stars Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Michael Peña, Kate Mara, Kristen Wiig, Jeff Daniels, Donald Glover, and Chiwetel Ejiofor.
Want to be an extra in a movie? Extras are needed for a film called A FUNNY GIRL by Corpus Christi filmmaker Paul Gonzales. The film shoot will take place tomorrow, May 22nd, from 1pm to 6pm (2 hour minimum). on 214 N. Main Street at The Leo J. Welder Center for the Performing Arts. This shoot is for 18 years old and up.

One of the dresses worn by Vivien Leigh's Scarlett O'Hara sold this week in Beverly Hills for $137,000. James Tumblin, who was once the head of Universal Studios' hair and makeup department, bought the dress in the early 60s for $20 when he found it on the floor right before it was about to be thrown in the trash!
The 24th film in the James Bond franchise, SPECTRE, has been filming in Rome with Daniel Craig and bond girl, Monica Belluci. There will be a car chase on the ancient road Via Nomentana and a sequence on the waterfront that involves Bond's car plummeting into the Tiber. They just came from filming in the Austrian Alps and next, they will movie to Mexico to film a Day of the Dead festival.

Tina Fey's new film, Taliban Shuffle, is now casting featured roles in Albuquerqe, New Mexico. The story centers around Barker arriving in Kabul to cover stories about wartime Iraq and Pakistan. Casting directors are looking for buff weight lifter types for a scene shooting on February 20th. In addition, producers are looking for Japanese cars older than 2001. Lisa and Screech were missing from the Saved By The Bell sketch on The Tonight Show. A representative for Lark Voorhies said that it was due to her intense work schedule that she was available, but did not elaborate. Dustin Diamond, who played "Screech" has had legal troubles from allegedly stabbing a man in December 2014, which may be the reason he wasn't a part. The sketch with Jimmy Fallon is below.
A new film called Amira & Sam by Drafthouse Films releases Friday. On Friday, Military service members are encouraged to bring someone to see it. New reports have surfaced on why Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman got a divorce and it has to do with the Church of Scientology. It's nearly the same reason Katie Holmes left as well. For over a decade, Nicole Kidman pressured Cruise into distancing himself from Scientology. Cruise did for a while, but David Miscavige, the church head was so upset that he facilitated a breakup between them. He wiretapped Kidman's phone and helped Cruise get custody of Connor and Isabella, which they have always lived with their dad and don't even refer to Kidman as "mom." A lot of this will be covered in Alex Gibney's documentary about the Church of Scientology called Going Clear.
Full House cast reunited to celebrate the show's creator Jeff Franklin's birthday. They got on stage and belted out the theme song of the show as well as Happy Birthday. Andrea Barber, who played D.J.'s best friend, Kimmy Gibler, posted a video on Instagram of the performance. She captioned it, "Only for you, Jeff Franklin. Only for you. Fresh off getting 6 Oscar nominations, AMERICAN SNIPER is getting a lot of flack for not using a real baby during a scene between Bradley Cooper and Sienna Miller. According to screenwriter Jason Dean Hall, the first baby showed up with a fever while filming the scene. The backup baby didn't show up. By the end, they grabbed a doll to shoot the scene and moved on. Watch the scene below.
HBO will air NIGHT WILL FALL on Monday, January 26 at 9pm. It's a documentary with lost film footage from World War II that Alfred Hitchcock and Sidney Bernstein shot in 1945 about German concentration camps.
For the first time in the history of Cannes Film Festival, Directors Joel and Ethan Coen have been named the presidents of the jury. They have accepted the invitation from President Pierre Lescure and General Delegate Thierry Frémaux for the 68th edition of the Festival.

Mike Nichols, legendary film and theatre Director known for such films as Working Girl, Silkwood, and Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? He also won an Academy Award for 1967's The Graduate. He died from cardiac arrest at the age of 83.
Emma Stone made her Broadway debut playing Sally Bowles in Cabaret. She has taken over for Michelle Williams and will be doing the production until February.
Michael Jace, 51, who played Officer Julien Lowe, the Christian homosexual in THE SHIELD, was arrested Tuesday morning over the death of his wife, who was shot to death after coming home from baseball practice with her kids. His bail has been set at $1 million.

NBC has announced that they are planning a three-hour special in honor of 'Saturday Night Live's' 40th anniversary on February 15th, 2015.
Mila Kunis showed off her baby bump at the MTV Movie Awards. She was awarded Best Villain for her role as the Wicked Witch of the West in last year's OZ The Great and Powerful. You could also see her beautiful engagement ring that Kutcher gave her.
Ice Cube was upset that the Best Onscreen Duo MTV Movie Award went to Paul Walker and Vin Diesel. He believed it was a sympathy vote because of Walker's passing and felt he should have gotten it. "We had the best chemistry of everybody nominated," Ice Cube told USA Today of his performance with Kevin Hart in Ride Along.
Matt Wiener, creator of MAD MEN, gives us a hint of what's in store for the last season. Don Draper (Jon Hamm), Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss), Pete Campbell (Vincent Kartheiser), Joan Harris (Christina Hendricks), and Roger Sterling (John Slattery) are all as fascinating to watch as ever. At the end of season six, Don, Peggy and Pete were each at their own interesting crossroads, as Joan came to embrace a new paradigm that comes with having gained a certain amount of power in the work place. Meanwhile, Roger, has taken a very interesting turn in life as well. What the end of the show is really about is analyzing the material things in your life versus the immaterial things in your life.
According to E! News, 30-year-old Mila Kunis is expecting her first child with her fiance, 36-year-old Ashton Kutcher.
Sofia Coppola will direct a live-action version of THE LITTLE MERMAID. It won't be a remake, but it will center around a mermaid who wishes to become human after falling in love with a man she saves from drowning.
The Austin Film Society announced that Austin Studios is now home to Rooster Teeth Productions, one of Austin's hottest, digital media companies that was founded in 2003. It encompasses gaming, animation, live action, machinima, and podcasts.
Brittany Murphy's final film hits theaters four years after her death. SOMETHING WICKED is an indie thriller where a couple go on a honeymoon against their parents' wishes. When the parents are taken in an auto accident, terrible secrets from the couple's past come back to haunt them. It opens in Oregon on April 4 and opens nationwide shortly thereafter.
FAST & FURIOUS 7 will resume filming on March 31, 2014 in Atlanta, Georgia. To film the role of Brian O'Conner (played by the late Paul Walker), his brother Cody Walker and CGI effects may be used. They can shoot Cody from behind and at a distance and use CGI in close up shots.

HBO's GIRLS' Adam Driver has been cast in J.J. Abram's 2015 Star Wars sequel. No word yet on who he's playing, but it's rumored that it will be a villain, perhaps Darth Ramslayer, who is an orphan on the distant planet of Prospecteits, raised by Sith Lords.
Lena Dunham of HBO's GIRLS was detained by TSA agents at LAX when scanners found a "weapon" in her purse. Unaware of who she was, TSA confiscated her self-defense kitty cat keychain, that looks something like above. She said at least this will make a good story to share on talk shows.
Harold Ramis, known for playing Dr. Egon Spengler in the Ghostbusters Trilogy has passed. He suffered from autoimmune inflammatory vasculitis, a rare disease that causes swelling of the blood vessels for the past few years.
Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman has been found dead with a needle in his arm in his West Village apartment. Seventy bags of heroin was found with him. See the picture here!

NBC is in the works to update the horror classic, Rosemary's Baby as a TV miniseries. They have cast Zoe Saldana (Star Trek) in the title role, along with Patrick J. Adams (Suits) as her husband and Jason Isaacs (Harry Potter).
J.J. Abrams has confirmed that the script for Star Wars: Episode 7 is completed. He reworked the story and it will now focus more on the original characters of Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo. Casting is next including Jesse Plemons of Breaking Bad. It's release it set for December 2015.
Russell Johnson known for playing the Profesor on Gilligan's Island for 3 seasons and reunion movies has died at age 89 due to natural causes. Johnson always found it funny that the Professor could make gadgets out of junk, but could never fix the boat to get the 7 members back to civilization.

James Avery who played Uncle Phil in the 90s sitcom, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air has died from complications from an open heart surgery performed in mid-November. He was 68.

Paul Walker has died at age 40 after the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT has was a passenger in crashed and exploded into flames. The driver, Roger Rodas, also died.
